Major League Hacking 2017 Hackathon Season

What is TinoHacks?

TinoHacks, a project of Hacker Fund, is a two day long, 350 person hackathon hosted by Cupertino High School students where both new and experienced programmers can work together on projects, learn new skills, and have a splendid time. Hacker Fund is a 501(c)(3) public charity registered in CA with the Tax ID: 47-2485464. All donations are tax-deductible.

What is a hackathon?

A Hackathon is a 24 to 36 hour long coding marathon event where people can make the most bizarre ideas into reality. Over the course of the weekend, students collaborate to create projects, listen to exquisite workshop presentations, exercise their programming abilities, and of course, have tons of fun!

Time and Location?

TinoHacks will kick off at 9:00 am on Saturday April 15th and end at 2:00 pm on Sunday April 16th. The official venue for the event is 42 USA at 6600 Dumbarton Cir, Fremont, CA 94555, USA.

Cost?

Thanks to our sponsors, this event is completely free! This includes all the food, swag, and fantabulous prizes.

What will I need?

You will need a laptop, a valid student ID (or some sort of student ID), chargers, your phone, a blanket/sleeping bag, toiletries, and any supplies you need for your hack. All MLH Hardware will be available for rent at the event. All TinoHacks participants are guaranteed top notch iMacs with pre-installed programming software to hack throughout the entire event, however, you may bring your own laptop for convenience as well!

Supervision and Code of Conduct?

There will be adult supervision at the event at all times. At night at 7pm, doors will close and lock until 7am the next morning. We will be following the MLH code of conduct, MLH Policies and Hacker Fund Parent Packet.

Do I need programming experience?

No! In fact, TinoHacks is a great way to begin your programming experience! A basic understanding is recommended, but we will have workshops and mentors to help you make your project idea a reality.

Who can attend?

This event is open to high schoolers only. However, college students may sign up to mentor, volunteer, or lead a workshop. Sign up here, or email tinohacks2017@gmail.com if you have any questions or concerns.

Do I have to stay overnight?

No; you will be permitted to go home at a certain time, though staying the night is highly recommended. The doors will close at 7pm and open at 7am, and no persons are allowed to leave or enter the building during that time.

# of members per team?

You need at least 1 person per team and 4 people at most.

Do I need to make a team?

You can make a team beforehand, or find one at the event through our team building session. Meeting and working with new people at TinoHacks can be one of the most fruitful experiences you can have!

Travel Imbursements?

Unfortunately, TinoHacks will not be offering travel reimbursements. Please email us at tinohacks2017@gmail.com for additional details.
